Menschsein für Anfänger

Re-Interpretation of the pictorial message of the “Pioneer Plaques. The Pioneer plaques are a pair of aluminum plaques which were placed on board the Pioneer 10  and Pioneer 11 spacecrafts, featuring a pictorial message, in case either is intercepted by extraterrestrial life.

Humanity for beginners or “Menschsein für Anfänger” is a response towards the importance of educational books for children. I decided to create an ABC for alien children, to help them understand basic behaviors of the human race in case of contact.

The first step was to invent an alien alphabet, designing uppercase and lowercase characters based on the Latin Alphabet structure. After that followed the sketching of each letter representative illustration, vectorization, and retouching.
