Tripdoo helps the modern traveler find ideal traveling experiences at reasonable prices. The portal offers traveling packages, city guides, and useful tips and tricks. The main challenges were: the site was not responsive, lack of a design system and inconsistency of the brand across channels.

It started by defining the information structure and desired features of the site based on what our user needed, what was profitable and what could be developed. Afterwards, and through interactive prototypes, the product features were tested to ensure that the product would behave as the user expect. Simultaneously, I created a new corporate identity and a design system. With this, the visual direction for the product was defined – colors, styles, typography, iconography, components, state transitions and general feel of the brand being consistent across all channels.

Important for me to mention, because of insufficient manpower I did not participate in the implementation process as desired, which resulted in a misalignment of what was designed and what was produced.

Cards

We decided on a card based interface as they create an interface that is almost infinitely flexible. They were a great choice, enabling a single aesthetic across multiple breakpoints, establishing a consistent experience regardless of the device.

Cards organize information into chunks of content and serve as an entry for detailed information. Dynamic simplicity was key in their design as multiple cards present different information depending on the offer.

City Guides

Tripdoo’s city guides are split into several relevant sections for our users. Accommodations, Getting There, Getting Around, Attractions, Restaurants, Outdoor, Nightlife, Museums, Shopping, and Events.

To ease the navigation, we created a fixed module for the user to access the section of their interest. Each unit consists of editorial content and an interactive map with a set of cards that rank the most important/best places.

The platform was in need of a brand redesign that would represent the personality and values of the portal across various channels. Tripdoo’s main goal is to help users find an ideal traveling package at a reasonable price easily. Being friendly but reliable were the two main values to consider.

The brand personality presents itself across all channels and within the interface. Through the color palette, typography, iconography, interface components, state transitions, tone and logo.
