Schnäppchenfuchs enables a community of shopping enthusiasts to discover, rate, discuss and share the best deals of their interest, bias-free. The challenge began with defining the user needs and overall location of information and features in the app. Flows and low fidelity prototypes were built and tested. Afterward, interactive visual mockups for iOS, Android, mobiles, and tablets were created. Afterward, a pattern library, style guide, and layout specifications were delivered.

Schnäppchenfuchs enables a community of shopping enthusiasts to discover, rate, discuss and share the best deals of their interest, bias-free. The challenge began with defining the user needs and overall location of information and features in the app. Flows and low fidelity prototypes were built and tested. Afterward, interactive visual mockups for iOS, Android, mobiles, and tablets were created. Afterward, a pattern library, style guide, and layout specifications were delivered.

Deals

As the core of the platform is helping people save money through different types of deals. It was key to organize the portal, supporting usability and findability, understanding how the users think. Through some card sorting sessions, we defined which categorization, sorting, and navigation would make sense for our users to easily access deals of their interest.

We decided to present all deals in a feed of cards, which serve as an entry to detailed information. After researching and testing, we defined which information would be presented in the cards and which would be in the detail page.

Community

The forum, as a room for communication, supports interaction between the users. Key functionalities of the forum are: up and down rating of the deals, which display the quality of the offer, writing comments and replies, most important feature: posting a new deal.

When posting a deal, the user describes the deal with an image, title, summary, link, pricing, discount code, expiration date and the category this deal belongs to. With this, we make sure the deal is up to the platform standards and that is findable by others to enjoy it. Data reveals that deals perform better when they don’t come from an anonymous user. I design an onboarding experience that is simple and smooth, helping users get the value of having an account with less effort.

Category Icons

Icons are an important part of design, they help for a better understanding and interpretation of information, they draw attention, increase readability and display content concisely.

For a system of icons to be effective, it should be carefully thought, with a holistic approach towards topics, such as audience, size of use, level of detail, perspective, and style, within a range from abstract to realistic. Icon-sets should be made with consistent uniform guidelines, pixel-perfect, clear and sharp.

As one only gets one chance to make a first impression, the app store and play store screens are a key piece of the App. Through these screens, users get an idea of what the app is about.

I created a set of bold yet simple screens that display the most relevant features of the App, users can get excited about what’s in store for them, and spend time trying the app.
