BEhome explores lifestyles landscapes as a relationship between people’s needs and their environment. It is a project based on the cartographic visualization of the variety of interests aiming to construct a lifestyle image of the city of Berlin. There are multiple profiles of new Berliners with a wide range of interests as well as several options of neighborhoods that are able to provide for those needs. The project focuses on the identification of the wide range of needs of people that are currently moving to Berlin. User research provided a list of needs that will be used as a starting point.
Based on several existing databases the selection of needs will be visualized according to predefined graphics parameters (color, shape, size, opacity, patterns or direction) on an SVG map providing a graphic translation of lifestyles landscapes in Berlin. The goal is to provide an interactive visualization of the heat zones where the needs of people moving to Berlin can be pleased, through an extended selectable list of categories that will define each lifestyle and visualize those needs in a map.
